It took several attempts to get Kina to change out of her nubbly blue cotton dress and into a cute little strawberry number, and I felt guilty for denying her the pleasure of simplicity on the day of her pandemic school portrait, but we only get one chance to wear strawberries in the face of existential catastrophe, and I have no regrets. Laurea and I have snuck off to a hotel while my parents are here, and we are going to make the most of this evening, so good night! Tomorrow should bring you a guest-edited The Daily Kina—our very first in over a year. Let’s all hope for the best while Laurea and I drape ourselves across these vintage couches and drink Portuguese wine.
