The one thing I did not remember about Pippi Longstocking from my encounters with her story as a kid was her giant suitcase full of cash and how casually the story treats her mysterious fortune. (“Pippi Longstocking is also rich”, says the narrator offhandedly.) Who is this horse-lifting billionaire, and who’s tracking her tax liabilities?!
