Honestly, her very understandable and natural wish to walk to school on her own, against the backdrop of everything we are doing in the world right now, is a little too much to handle. I want this for her, but I want it for every little girl on the planet. It’s just hard to separate those things, and it feels so tenuous. Maybe in fifth grade all of this will be easier.
